Upcoming Blood Drive in Papillion

Shadow Lake Square Apartments in Papillion, Nebraska are hosting their second blood drive for the American Red Cross on Saturday, January 18th from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

We hope to have another successful drive since the need for blood is so great. Here are some quick facts about blood donation:

-every 2 seconds in the US, someone needs blood

-just one blood donation can help up to 3 patients

-less than 38% of the population is eligible to donate blood and only 3% of those who are eligible actually donate

-Each year, an estimated 6.8 million people in the U.S. donate blood.

-13.6 million whole blood and red blood cells are collected in the U.S. in a year.

Basic donation qualifications:

• Donation frequency: Every 56 days
• You must be in good health and feeling well
• You must be at least 16 years old in most states
• You must weigh at least 110 lbs
