The Heat…is No Longer on at Highclere Apartments in Council Bluffs

Well, it looks as though we are finally getting a well-deserved break in the weather. According to the Washington Post the month of July 2012 was hotter than any month previously observed. The NOAA reported that the continental United States was 3.3 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the 20th century average. Hotter than the previous record set in July 1936!

The hottest part of the country was in the Plains, Midwest and Eastern seaboard. Thirty-two of the 48 continental U.S. states had their hottest July on record and several cities/towns had July ranked in the top 10
hottest day on record for any day of the year. Due to all of this heat we then entered a drought, the worst of it centering here in the Midwest. In fact, it was the worst drought since December or 1956. In turn there were several wildfires this summer consuming millions of acres of land across the country.

The good news is…it all seems to be subsiding. We have been getting more rain in the past couple of weeks and the weather has lowered significantly. It seems as though the vegetation is taking to this cooler, damper weather quite well and seems to be improving from the summer drought.

We do encourage all of our residents and friends to continue watering, though slightly less now, until we receive a bit more moisture. All of us here at Highclere Apartments and Townhomes in Council Bluffs, Iowa love the summer, but are excited for the fall season to begin. We can all finally sleep with the windows open and turn off the air conditioning.

Information expanding on our autumn events will be coming to you soon. The Highclere Office has a lot of great community events in store for its residents this year! So, keep an eye out and enjoy the beautiful fall weather!
