When you think about winter and weather- your car may not be the first thing on your mind. Your car, however, is outside in the harsh elements and like most of us, they need a little more love in the winter. We wanted to share some tips on how to help your car stay in great shape this winter!
- Lights! Make sure that all of the lights on your car are in operating order. There is a lot less daylight this time of year which makes this very important! Make sure that you are clearing snow off of your headlights and taillights before beginning your commute and clearing them of any grime when the slush and snow becomes dirty! Also keep an eye on your windshield wipers- those start to lose their effectiveness in as little as 6 months!
- Tires! Tire pressure drops as the temperatures do. Driving with low tire pressure causes premature wear on the tires and could lead to tread separation! Installing snow tires in the winter months can provide improved traction.
- Coolant! Make sure that your car has adequate coolant- this will keep your engine from freezing in the winter time.
- Battery! Get your battery tested professionally-you do not want to be jumping your car in negative degree weather.
Another great tip to save your car from freezing rain and snow is to keep it in a garage! At Villa Vineé we have garages that are available for rent on a month-to-month basis. Forget scraping your windows and clearing snow in the morning- get yourself a covered garage for only $60 per month!
