Shadow Lake Square Tips on Fall Cleaning!!

Wow, isn’t the weather just gorgeous?! The signs of autumn are beginning to pop up everywhere: the cooler temperatures, shorter days, and infiltration of pumpkin-flavored products. Like spring, fall offers up a chance to freshen up your apartment life for the coming months. Here are a few tips to prepping your apartment for the fall season.

Cleaning Up

Spring-cleaning shouldn’t be the only time for a deep cleansing of your apartment and clearing our unwanted items. Before you snuggle up on the couch for the longer nights ahead, grab your cleaning supplies and scrub down all the nooks and crannies you ignored over the summer. You’ll be glad to have a clean apartment during the colder months spent inside.

Change up the Color Scheme

During spring and summer, we decorate with bright jewel tone and lighter fabrics, but these don’t seem to work during cooler months. To get ready for the fall season, swap your corals and teals for warmer earth tones such as deeper reds, oranges, and olive greens. Easy ways to incorporate darker colors include accenting with throw pillows and blankets, bundles of twigs or potpourri, and colorful seasonal gourds and fruits.

Transition to Autumn Fragrances

Nothing announces autumn like the aromas of pumpkin, cinnamon apple, and warm vanilla. While it’s not exactly plausible to fill your apartment with pumpkin spice lattes or apple pies, you’ll get a similar effect from fragrant air fresheners and potpourri. For a cheaper option, (I do this at my home) boil a tablespoon of cinnamon and a few cloves in a cup of apple cider to fill your apartment with the delectable spiced apple pie scent and make your space feel warmer…. it smells absolutely amazing!!!
