Making an Apartment, Feel like Home
Trying to find a way to make your apartment feel more like home? We know that it can be hard to find renter-friendly ways to achieve this. We think we have found some fun and creative ways (with places to go) to help you achieve this for your place!
- Art Gallery Wall. Listed below are ideas of how to use what you have, or to get creative with it.
- Do you have a bunch of wall art/pictures you have found while you were out and about (or even pictures that you have taken of your own)? Spend some time laying them out on the floor so you know how you want to hang them on your wall.
- Feel like getting a little creative? Go to an art supply store (Hobby Lobby Arts & Crafts Store or Arts & Crafts, Frames, Seasonal Décor | DIY & Inspiration | Michaels) and get some canvases, paint, and paint brushes of different sizes. Try buying different size canvases to make it even more fun and different.
- Bring some color into your place. I know when thinking about color most thoughts go for painting a wall, but here are a few different ways to have color without painting any walls.
- Add in area rugs. By adding area rugs not only can they add different colors, but they can also bring in new textures and patterns.
- Use bright curtains. Not only would they help bring in more color to your apartment, but they help you control the amount of light coming into your apartment.
- Find a fun piece of accent furniture. If this is the route you’d like to take we suggest heading over to NFM, or even going to Shop Furniture, Appliances, Electronics, & More | NFM and finding a piece of furniture that brings you some joy.
- Have a studio, but want a little more privacy between your living and sleeping areas? This can be hard to navigate as you might be limited in space, so we have found some alternative methods that could help you out.
- Bookshelves. These can be a way to not only help separate your living and sleeping areas, but also a way to have more space for your decorations and books.
- Room Divider, much like a bookshelf, this can help separate spaces (“room divider” : Target). If you are short on space, this would make sure you still have your space while having that separation that you want.
- What if you aren’t sold on a bookshelf or room divider? How about trying a tension rod (“tension rod” : Target) with some curtains (Curtains & Drapes : Target) to match your unique style?
