How to Prepare for Trick-or-Treat and Halloween 2021
We are only a week and a half away from the spookiest holiday of the year! With our penchant for lists, we want to provide a general guide for celebrating this wonderful boo-ha-ha and trick or treating. We know that the residents at Cedar Heights would not be prime candidates for hosting trick or treaters, but may have kids, nieces, nephews, etc. where this information would be valid. Have fun reading our list on how to get ready and Happy Halloween!
- First, be aware of weather conditions for Halloween Day and Night. Weather reports for Omaha for October 31st shows a daytime high of 55 degrees, and a nighttime high of 39 degrees, with it being clear skies and very low chances of precipitation. Make sure to dress yourself and any children with you in warmer layers, especially at night.
- Plan your night and schedule prior. For adults who may be attending parties, make sure to plan any possible need for a designated driver. For those with children, plan the route that you all will be taking. Also, more eyes are better in the group to make sure nobody gets lost or left behind!
- Bring flashlights. If you will be walking at night, it is important to see the path in front of your clearly, as well as making sure cars nearby can see you and your party. Reflective strips on clothing are encouraged for this purpose as well.
- Only approach houses that are properly lit and make sure that anyone kids in your party stay in your sight.
- A smaller thought, but make sure to your trick or treaters carry a bucket or bag that is neither too big or too small. The recommended size to maximize their intake of sweets without overdoing it is the size of a plastic grocery bag.
- Parse out the candy. We know it is the holiday known for unadulterated intake of candy, but no one wants to be nursing a child back to health after they overdo it. Limit them eating sweets to a few pieces every night. Also, please inspect all candy passed out to your children or group prior to it being eaten.
- For those without trick or treaters, be aware that holiday attractions such as pumpkin patches, haunted houses, etc. will be heavily visited on the nights leading up to Halloween, so try to go early or visit these places a weak or more in advance.
- Finally, have a great time and enjoy yourself. It really is a hauntingly good occasion!
