Gratitude and Thankfulness
Practicing thankfulness and gratitude is powerful for ourselves and the people we come across. Shifting focus from lack to abundance can strengthen relationships and improve our well-being. Intentionally noticing the good in every situation, whether it be easy or difficult times. Making a daily choice to live a more joyful and satisfying life.
How to practice thankfulness:
- Practice gratitude daily: Make a conscious effort to find things to be thankful for each day. It can be as small as a stranger giving a smile or holding a door.
- Share it with others: Let people know you appreciate them – from family and friends- to co-workers and yes, even the stranger that held a door. This will strengthen your relationships and begin to build a cycle of kindness.
- Find the good in hard times: Even when things are hard, intentionally look for what you can be thankful for. It’s not ignoring the pain but finding a sense of grace that can make hardship more manageable.
- Turn it into a habit: The more you practice this the easier it will come to you. You can start by choosing one person to focus on, reflecting on what they do for you, and expressing your gratitude.
Why thankfulness is beneficial:
- Improves your mindset: Focusing on what you have rather than what you lack will lead to greater satisfaction and well-being.
- Strengthens relationships: Expressing gratitude builds trust and connection in your relationships.
- Increases happiness: A grateful and thankful heart makes for a joyful soul.
- Build resilience: Being able to be grateful and thankful gives you a more positive view of life, helping you persevere through life’s challenges.
