Earth Day Omaha – 4/18, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., Elmwood Park

• The free event features exhibit booths, children’s activities, demonstrations and short speaker sessions, plus live music from top local bands and food from area vendors. All activities are designed to educate and inspire attendees to live green and healthy at home and at work.
• Climb A State Champion Tree at Earth Day – 4/18, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Earth Week Kick-Off at Mulhalls – 4/18, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

• Localmotive Food Truck will be there 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Music starts at noon.
• Children’s activities, Truck Farm Omaha, plus more.

Party for the Planet at the Omaha’s Zoo & Aquarium – 4/19, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• Celebrate Earth Day and discover ways you can help save our planet. Stop by conservation-themed booth, listen to Omaha Street Percussion perform music on recycled trash cans and buckets, receive gate gifts, provided by Oriental Trading Company, while supplies last. Included with regular admission.

Earth Adventure Scavenger Hunt – 4/19, 1;30 p.m. (Registration Req’d by April 13)

• Held at Hitchcock Nature Center, Honey Creek, IA. Use your senses and follow clues on an expedition through the Loess Hills. All ages are welcome to attend. $5/person.
• Pre-registration is required by Monday, April 13th, as space is limited.

Plant It for the Planet at Pottery Barn Kids – 4/21, 11 a.m.

• Your child will decorate biodegradable flower pots and plant seeds in celebration on Earth Day. Space is limited. Call to RSVP.

Celebrate Arbor Day at La Vista Community Center – 4/23, 10 a.m.

• Come for an outdoor story time and Arbor Day tree planting followed by Preschool Playtime in the gym! There will be a special gift for all children who attend. No registration required.

Earth Day at Florence Community Center – 4/24, 1 – 3 p.m.

• Learn about Arbor Day, help plant a tree and take home a tree.

Arbor Day Family Activities at Lauritzen Gardens – 4/24, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

• Enjoy a variety of tree-themed educational activities designed for families to learn about a variety of tree topics. The first 100 households will receive a FREE tree seedling! This event is included with regular garden admission and is free for garden members.
• Children who dress like a tree will get in FREE!

Annual Arbor Day Celebration in Nebraska City – 4/24-4/26

• Celebrate the tree planter’s holiday where it all began – in Nebraska City, Nebraska. The entire community will mark the internationally-celebrated holiday with a parade, craft show, and more. Plus, at Kimmel Orchard, enjoy free hayrack rides, wine tasting, apple doughnuts, and more.

Arbor Day Family Celebration at Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure – 4/25-4/26

• Special Arbor Day events at the Tree Adventure include tree climbing; face painting; assorted hands-on activities and learning opportunities for all ages.

Sarpy County Earth Day – 4/26, 12 – 4 p.m., BPS Lied Activity Center

• Earth Day Celebration will feature a 5K run/walk and 1 mile walk fundraiser, plus exhibitors, youth events, food and demonstrations.

National

Free Entrance Days in the National Parks – 4/18-4/19

• Opening weekend of National Park Week. Over 100 national parks that usually charge entrance fees are offering free entrance. Find Participating Parks (By State).
