Just one block north of South Park is a Goodwill donation center. Drop off any unwanted clothes, books, movie, appliances, furniture, gadgets, and gizmos.
Just across the street you can drop off your extra non-perishable food items for donation at the Family Fare grocery store. They are a drop off location for Food Bank for the Heartland. Their most needed food items are:
Are you looking to get out of the house this year on New Year’s Eve? It is a good thing you live at South Park Apartments because your home is just a ball drop away from downtown Omaha, the Old Market, and Midtown! This is where the heart of the heartland beats, folks. Go check out “Noon Year’s Eve at the Zoo” where Henry Doorly Zoo will hold a countdown and ball drop…at noon! Yes, so you can go to sleep at a bearable hour tonight and you can still enjoy some New Year’s festivities. A similar event will be held at the Durham Museum around the same time. Or if you are in it for that big midnight moment, go check out the fireworks at Gene Leahy Mall downtown. It’s the last year you will be able to attend this festival before the pedestrian mall will begin redevelopment. If you get too chilled at this event, just hop up to north downtown for some fun at the Slowdown lounge. What you can expect is the party you wished you would have thrown last year but without the clean-up and with a couple hundred more friends. Feeling too classy for such shenanigans this year? Don’t worry, you can still go from the fireworks into a warm haven at The Exchange downtown for Gatsby’s New Year’s Eve. Attendees are invited to dress their best. No matter how you decide to spend your New Year’s, your Uber ride will hardly cost a dime because you are so close to where Omaha goes to celebrate at South Park Apartments!

Being able to get ahold of our residents is a requirement of your lease! If your phone number is disconnected or an email comes back “return to sender” during an emergency, we may not be able to give you important information regarding your home in a timely manner. We want to keep the lines of communication open.
We also want to make sure that your emergency contact is up to date- maybe they have changed their address or phone number- that is all information the office needs. We have resident update forms above the rent drop box for your convenience! If you have a change, just fill out the form and drop it in the drop box. October is flying by and Halloween is almost here! The gates of apple orchards and pumpkin patches all around the Omaha metro are open and ready for you. There are many events happening this month and we wanted to share a few of our favorites!
Mangelsen’s will be having a Witch’s Tea from 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday, October 13th! This event will include games, a bounce house, treats and a costume contest! This a free event being offered near South Park Apartments- just up the road in the Mangelsen’s parking lot, 3457 S. 84th Street.
The next event we would like to feature is a Trunk or Treat at the Sarpy Community YMCA! This event takes place on Friday, October 26th from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. This event is a little further away, but would be worth it for all of the free fun! There will be a trunk or treat outside in the parking lot with decorated cars and candy galore! Inside will be filled with Halloween themed games including a toddler tumbling area, a tattoo station, pumpkin bowling and spider web toss! Luckily, at South Park we are able to offer garages and storage units that are month to month. This gives our residents the flexibility and convenience of adding garages or storage units at any time and the ability to drop these items when they no longer serve a purpose. It is always great to have the option to park in our free and open parking or pick up a garage when the snow starts to fall and you don’t want to scrape all of your windows! All of these items require their own special month to month leases. These leases state that in order to vacate the specific garage or storage unit, a written 30 day notice from the 1st day of the month must be given to the office staff.
Here are some examples. If a resident wanted to vacate a garage or storage locker in November, one would need to give the office written notice by October 1st. This applies for garages, storage lockers and month to month apartment leases. If a resident has signed a 6-11 or a 12 month lease, we require a written 60 day notice from the 1st of the month. If that resident would like to move by November, the office would need a notice by September 1st.

We are replacing two roofs over the course of the next few weeks and the South Park office has been getting a lot of questions regarding the process! Here is a super simplified version of what goes on during a roof replacement.
There are many benefits to replacing a roof. One of the biggest benefits is the added safety it brings to our residents. Replacing a damaged roof will fix many issues and help save on energy bills. We are always striving to improve our properties and one of the biggest expenses is roof replacement. But, what exactly goes into replacing a roof? Did you know we have to use at least three different vendors to replace the roof? In some circumstances, we must hire an electrician to adjust communication lines on top of the roof so they do not get damaged and are replaced correctly. If the HVAC units (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) are on the roof, we must hire a heating and cooling company to disconnect and move the units to allow the roof to be exposed. Only then can the roof replacement process begin! At South Park, our roof is covered with river rock. All of the rock must be taken off to expose the roof below which is replaced with an EPDM roof. EDPM is an extremely durable synthetic rubber roofing membrane. Once that is done the HVAC units and communication lines are replaced and the process is complete!
South Park residents are really starting to fall for this cooler weather! The cooler temperature has us all itching to go outside. Our name, South Park, foreshadows our love for the outdoors. Our property features a beautiful courtyard and neighbors the public Churchich Park- but sometimes we need to get a little further away from home.
The Omaha metro has some great terrain to explore! The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Visitor Center is offering some amazing programs this coming month. Between August 30th, 2018 and September 30th, 2018 they are offering Lewis and Clark Ranger Programs! Staff from the trail center will be available to give programs on various topics related to the Lewis and Clark Expedition. These programs can be joined anytime between 10:30 am and 2 pm and lasts for approximately 30 minutes to one hour. The best part- these mini expeditions are kid friendly. This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved, have some adventure and learn about the rich history and impact that the Lewis and Clark Expeditions had in our very own backyard!
